Apple Canyon Lake is located in beautiful Jo Daviess County. A pleasant three-hour drive from downtown Chicago, even less from most suburbs.
From the Chicago Area:
- Take I-90 west to the Freeport-Cherry Valley exit (U.S. 20 Bypass)
- Drive west on U.S. 20.
- Between Stockton and Woodbine turn north on Canyon Park Road
- Turn west onto Townsend Road
- Take a right onto Scout Camp Road
- Turn left at the Apple Canyon Lake sign
From the West:
- Take US20 to Woodbine
- Before exiting Woodbine, turn north (left) onto Scout Camp Road and go approximately 7 miles (you’ll see signs)
- Turn left onto Lake Road #3
- At the stop sign follow directions to assorted amenities
From the South:
- Take 84 N to US 20
- Turn east (right) onto US 20 and go to Woodbine
- Before exiting Woodbine, turn north (left) onto Scout Camp Road and go approximately 7 miles (you’ll see signs)
- Turn left onto Lake Road #3
- At the stop sign follow directions to assorted amenities

Apple Canyon Lake addresses are unusual. The number before the “A”, or dash, in each address indicates the Section number. The number after the “A”, or dash, indicates the house number. Apple Canyon Road circles the perimeter of the community and will take you to all of the Sections.
